Interim Archive

Click here to access a complete listing of all postings (back to April 2003) from Sue Barber-Westin of the Cincinnati Sports Medicine Centre. A brilliant and thoughtful clinical researcher as well as a scientist of deeply penetrating insight, Sue ranks among the world's most knowledgeable people in the realm of knee injuries and treatments.

Bob's ACL WWWBoard was founded in March 1996, and the over two-hundred-thousand postings posted since then have all been saved (except for a several months in the summer of 2001, during which a catastrophic physical hardware failure of the server's disk array occurred; a new remote-backup arrangement promises that this rare type of failure cannot recur). Michael Frind maintains his personal archive of all of his own postings as well as of selected postings from various other kneeboard participants, and some of these are made available here.

Postings prior to April 2003 are presently stored off-line, and will be made available on-line at some future data; some of said documents are here in the Interim Archive, and more will be made available soon. Postings posted in April 2003 or later are available on-line directly via the the Search page; some are also accessible via the Interim Archive as well.

Michael Frind receives numerous requests for copies of previous write-ups, including some dating from before 2003. Some of the most asked-for documents are listed directly below. Most of the documents hotlinked below contain not only a given old response posting, but also the original respective posting document which initiated the thread of sub-thread of the discussion. First on the list are my write-ups on functional bracing. Because these documents are often requested and referred to, they have been placed here for easy accessibility.

If you happen to have copies of Summer 2001 postings from Bob's Board stored on your computer, or anywhere else (even paper printouts), I would be delighted to add them to this archive for you. Please e-mail me at frind@execulink.com or snail-mail me.

(Postings are generally listed in reverse chronological order. Note that the searching of keywords in any webpage can be done using Edit/Find in Internet Explorer, or Edit/Find in Frame in Netscape Navigator.)

Please note that documents are still being added to this page.

Re: Functional Bracing -- A General Overview (This is my "detailed three-part write-up" on functional knee bracing. Posted here is the complete document, with all three parts amalgamated into a single document.) This document was made available on November 22, 2002, with some revisions May 7, 2003. Albeit many of the points covered in this document are fundamentals and thus will never become obsolete, keep in mind that knee-brace manufacturers are continually revising their existing products and introducing new ones. Accordingly, up-to-date comments on certain knee-brace models can be found in Michael Frind's most recent postings, available directly on the Kneeboard (which currently goes back to April 2003). Michael Frind can also be contacted directly.
